Forever Loved. Forever Cherished. Forever in Our Hearts.

Chad Elliot Hopfensperger, 54, of North Carolina, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Monday, November 2, 2026. Born on December 21, 1971, in Appleton, Wisconsin, Chad lived a life filled with faith, love, laughter, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Chad was married to his best friend, soulmate, and love of his life, Leigh Davies Hopfensperger, for more than 25 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life and family firmly rooted in their shared faith and love for God. Their greatest blessings included their daughter, Lindsey Donnease Turner, and granddaughter, Kallie Lou Olson.

To Chad, his "girls" were his entire world. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to shower them with love, laughter, encouragement, and perhaps a little too much spoiling! Given the choice between anything else and spending time with his girls, there was never a question about where Chad wanted to be.

One of the most beautiful examples of Chad's devotion was his relationship with his granddaughter, Kallie. Morning and evening prayers with her were a cherished part of his daily life. No matter what the day held, he made time to pray with her, nurturing her faith and teaching her the importance of walking with God. Those precious moments were far more than routine; they were an expression of his love and a spiritual legacy that will remain with her throughout her life.

Standing an impressive 6 feet, 5 inches tall, Chad might have seemed larger than life, but he possessed a remarkably gentle and nurturing spirit. Though naturally quiet, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. Children especially gravitated toward him, somehow recognizing the kindness behind his towering presence. He had a special way of making young people feel comfortable, valued, and loved.

Chad was a natural teacher and always provided encouragement. He genuinely enjoyed helping others learn, grow, and discover what they could accomplish. Whether patiently teaching a new skill, offering words of encouragement, or simply being present when someone needed him, Chad had a quiet but powerful way of making a difference.

Throughout their years together, Chad and Leigh shared countless adventures, traveling across the United States, enjoying cruises, making memories at Walt Disney World, and embracing the simple joys of doing life together. Whether exploring somewhere new or simply enjoying a quiet day at home, what mattered most to Chad was being surrounded by the people he loved.

A graduate of Appleton West High School in Wisconsin, Chad's journey took him from Wisconsin to Minnesota, Georgia, and ultimately North Carolina. Along the way, he built lifelong friendships and touched countless lives. After a successful career spanning more than 30 years in the financial industry, Chad retired in April 2026, looking forward to enjoying more time with his family and pursuing the hobbies that brought him happiness.

Chad had a passion for bass fishing, golf, woodworking, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He found joy in the peacefulness of being on the water, the challenge of a round of golf, the satisfaction of creating something with his hands, and the unconditional love of his four-legged companions. He loved the time spent on golf courses (all over the US) where he shared precious time with his Mom and Dad during his youth and adulthood. The Father and Son Tournaments with his Dad were especially near and dear to his heart. He treasured time spent fishing with his father-in-law, James Davies, Sr., who was not only family but also his best fishing buddy.

Above all, Chad was a man of unwavering faith. His love for God was not simply something he spoke about; it was reflected in the way he lived, loved, taught, and cared for others.

He had a special place in his heart for encouraging preteens as they grew in their own Faith Walk. His gentle nature, patience, humor, and genuine interest in their lives made him a natural mentor. Chad understood that teaching children about God's love wasn't simply about the words spoken, but about demonstrating that love through kindness, consistency, encouragement, and example.

Although his earthly journey was far shorter than anyone could have imagined, Chad's life was abundantly blessed. He experienced extraordinary love, incredible adventures, deep friendships, and the immeasurable joy of family. His life reminds us that the true measure of a person's time on earth is not found in the number of years lived, but in the love shared, the memories created, and the lives forever changed.

Chad leaves behind his beloved wife, Leigh Davies Hopfensperger; daughter, Lindsey Donnease Turner; granddaughter, Kallie Lou Olson; and his loving parents, Thomas Harold and Cynthia Vonck Hopfensperger. He is also survived by his sisters, Kim Jansen (Jericho) and Jenni Nau (Travis); his father-in-law and cherished fishing buddy, James Davies, Sr.; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Chad was preceded in death by his “partner in crime” (i.e. mother-in-law, Judy Lindsey Davies), who entered Heaven just a few short months before him. Those who knew Chad and Judy can almost certainly picture their reunion at Heaven's gates. We can imagine Judy waiting with open arms, the two of them embracing, and then breaking into the kind of infectious laughter they so often shared here on earth. What a beautiful homecoming that must have been!

While our hearts ache at the loss of his earthly presence, we find comfort in knowing that Chad did not simply leave us; he went Home. God blessed us with Chad for almost 55 remarkable years before granting him his Heavenly wings. His earthly work is complete, his faith has become sight, and he now rests in the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior.

Chad's legacy lives on in the family he adored, the faith he shared, the children he encouraged, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless memories that will forever bring both smiles and tears.

His life was a blessing. His love was a gift. His faith was his foundation. And his legacy will live on forever.

Chad once shared that when his earthly journey came to an end, he would prefer that trees be planted in his memory (Eco-Friendly Memorial Trees) rather than flowers be sent. In keeping with his wishes, the family invites those who loved him to honor his life by planting a tree—a living tribute that will grow, provide beauty and shade, and stand as a lasting reminder of a man whose love and influence will continue for generations.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Chad's remarkable life, share treasured memories, and honor the love and faith that defined him, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Troutman Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm and A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm.

Until we meet again, Chad, we will carry your love in our hearts, your laughter in our memories, and your faith as a reminder that this is not goodbye—only "until we see you again."
