Glenn Carroll Jordan Sr. departed to his heavenly home Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Gordon Hospice House He is now released from all the pain of cancer, which he fought courageously.

Carroll was born May 5, 1937, in Statesville NC to the late Glenn and Nell Jordan. Following their junior years at Wake Forest College. he married his high school sweetheart and best friend Carolyn Tolbert and began a loving marriage of 61 years. He graduated from Troutman High School and Wake Forest College. In addition, he received post graduate degrees from Southeastern Theological Seminary, UNC Charlotte and Appalachian State University. Carroll worked nearly 30 years in public school education. He taught English and Spanish at Courtney and North Iredell high schools and served as principal at Sharon Elementary and West Iredell Middle schools. He retired after working as an administrator in the Iredell County Schools district office. Carroll served as pastor at Mount Vernon and Mountain Road Baptist Churches and for 40 years at Calahaln Friendship Baptist. Also, he. served as interim pastor for numerous churches in the South Yadkin Baptist Association. Following his retirement from the school system, he worked as a funeral director at Bunch-Johnson and Davie Funeral homes.

More than his professional accomplishments, Carroll will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was an avid fan of Wake Forest athletics and the Atlanta Braves, enjoyed all types of digital gadgetry, loved telling dad and preacher jokes and never turned down a good meal.  Carroll made deep friendships throughout his life. He lived his life in a way that leaves a memorable and positive impact on his family, friends, students and congregation members, especially his loving and compassionate care for Carolyn as she fought dementia until her passing in 2019.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Lamar Jordan and Gene Jordan, daughter-in-law Norma Jordan, father and mother-in-law Homer and Nellie Tolbert, sister-in-law Flora Jordan and brother-in-law Buddy Tolbert. Left to cherish his memory are sons Glenn C. Jordan, Jr. (Karen Carpenter) of Greensboro, Michael T. Jordan of Statesville, daughter Stephanie L. Jordan of Napa, CA, grandsons Michael R. Jordan (Kaitlyn) and Richard D. Jordan, great grandchildren Mackenzie and Merrick and their mother Lindsay Simmons, brother-in-law Carl Tolbert (Mary) of Statesville, sisters-in-law Lexine Jordan of Harmony and Ann Tolbert of Cleveland, NC and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Gordon Hospice House for making Dad's final days peaceful and comfortable.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, May 16 at Troutman Funeral Home. A celebration of Carroll's life will take place at 3 pm on Sunday, May 18 at Calahaln Friendship Baptist Church in Mocksville, with Rev. Lynn Kunkle officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Gordon Hospice House 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28677 or Calahaln Friendship Baptist Church 470 Calahaln Road, Mocksville, NC 27028.
