Carolyn Pope

Carolyn Estelle Upright Pope, 86, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Carolyn was born in Iredell County on April 1, 1938, to the late Clarence Upright and Lillie Garrison Upright. She was a member of Fallstown Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Monroe Pope, and daughter-in-law, Mary Hutchins.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Terry Cloer (Terry); sons, Johnny Pope, Kenny Pope (Kathy), and Dean Hutchins; grandchildren, Charity Barkley (Lewis), Shannon Cloer, Rovonda Barkley (Phillip), Cassandra Lemke (Jim), Mallory Rogers (Joseph), and Colton Neill (Shelby), and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 3 at Fallstown Baptist Church, with Rev. David Troutman officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresville. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Pope, Dean Hutchins, Johnny Pope, Terry Cloer, Lewis Barkley, Shannon Cloer, and Jason Marlowe. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons, Tripp Barkley, Garrett Barkley, and Levi Cloer. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, March 2 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home. At other times, the family will gather at her daughter’s home (261 Lytton Farm Road, Troutman, NC 28166).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or Fallstown Baptist Church, 242 State Park Road, Troutman, NC 28166.
