Carolyn Ervin Neill

Mar. 9, 1923 - Feb. 19, 2015 Mrs. Carolyn Ervin Neill, 91, of Troutman, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born on March 9, 1923, in Iredell County to the late Romie and Thomas Osborne Ervin. She was married to the late Harold Ostwalt Neill for 68 years and was a retiree from Sears, Roebuck & Company. She was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Odds and Ends Sunday school class, the Nancy Parker Circle and Keenagers. She was also a member of the George M. Young Chapter 305 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Neill is survived by her son, Monte Watson (Janice) Neill of Mooresville; brother, William "Billy" (Lucille) Ervin of Troutman; two grandchildren, Caroline (Rob) Johnston and Mandy (Neal) Jones; and five great grandchildren, Benjamin, Erin and Jack Johnston and William and Grace Parker. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Thomas Neill; sisters, Annis E. Morrison and Estelle E. Sherrill; brothers, Ernest, Charles, John and Robert Ervin; and great grandchild, Chloe Johnston. The family will receive friends from 4 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Troutman Funeral Home. A graveside service for Mrs. Neill will be held on Monday, February, 23 at 2:00 p.m. at New Perth Cemetery in Troutman with her granddaughter, the Rev. Mandy Jones, and her husband, the Rev. Neal Jones, officiating. At other times, the family will assemble at 187 Neill Farm Road in Troutman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
