Carol Hartline Chapman, 60, departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Born in Statesville on October 15, 1953, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Evelyn Rhyne Hartline. Preceding her in death was her brother, John Thomas (Tommy) Hartline, Jr.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She leaves behind her loving husband of 38 years, Carl Gene Chapman ("Jinks"), of the home. Also surviving is her daughter, Amanda Abernathy (Jamie), of Claremont and son, Carl Hunter Chapman (Jordan), of Troutman.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sister, Patty Hartline Eades (Ted), of Georgetown, SC; brother, Mark Hartline (Georgianne), of Troutman; and sister-in-law, Judy Garrison Hartline of Statesville. She is also leaving behind three grandchildren whom she adored, Madison Abernathy, Caje and Landen Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her love and warm smile.
She graduated from South Iredell High School in1971. Carol was a very special woman-- a giver by nature who volunteered her time at Gordon Hospice House and delivered meals to residents in Troutman. An active member of New Perth ARP Church in Troutman, she especially loved her bible study group, the Glory Girls.
Carol leaves behind many lifelong cherished friends. The family would especially like to thank those friends who attentively assisted in her loving care. Her family would also like to thank the entire staff of Gordon Hospice for their tender care, kindness and gracious generosity. They also wish to thank the staff at Duke University Medical Center especially Dr. Annick Desjardins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be sent to Preston Robert Tish Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center, Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 or Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, September, 20, 2014 at New Perth ARP Church in Troutman. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the church parlor with a service to celebrate Carol's life immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dan Hazen and the Rev. Charles Hammond of Lancaster, SC officiating.
