Camilla Loftin

Berta Camilla Waugh Loftin, 89, of Statesville, passed away December 26, 2012 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Harley Lee Waugh and Daisy Benfield Waugh and the wife of the late Floyd Loftin. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel L. Waugh. Camilla graduated from Celeste Henkel High School. She worked at East Monbo Cotton Mill and Hunt Manufacturing Company before retiring in 1986. Camilla was active at First United Methodist Church in Troutman, where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed working in her gardens, both vegetables and flowers, in the spring and summer. In winter, she spent time making quilts, especially baby quilts, which she gave to all her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joys were her children, granddaughters and great grandchildren, who all called her "Granny". Mrs. Loftin is survived by her son, Barry Floyd Loftin (Velma Butts) of Southport, NC; her daughter, Sandra L. Brown (Benny) of Statesville; five sisters, Ruby Shoemaker, Desolee Lindsey (Hubert) and Laine Sherrill (Larry) all of Statesville, Lois Ervin (Farris) and Betty Pope of Mooresville; a sister-in-law, Jane Waugh of Statesville; two grandchildren, Teresa B. Church and Carin B. Sink (Mike); and four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh M. Church, Hannah K. Church, W. Tyler Sink and Jordan E. Sink. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Troutman First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cowles "Cokie" Bristol, III. officiating. A visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the church from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Iredell Memorial Park immediately following the service.
