Calvin Matheson

October 21, 1931 - March 6, 2017 Calvin Mower Matheson, 85, of Troutman, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1931 in Iredell County to the late Robert Espy Matheson and Annie Belle Gilliand Matheson. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Peggy Stevenson Matheson; son, Phil Matheson (Debbie); daughter, Cindy Coley; sister, Ruby Alexander; five grandchildren, Nichol, Shane, Scott, Angela and Chad; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Calvin is preceded in death by his son, Calvin Keith Matheson; son-in-law, Ronald Coley; sisters, Virginia Ladd and Judy Stewart, and brothers, Herman Matheson, Curtis Matheson, and Robert Matheson. Calvin retired from Duke Power as a pipe fitter. He enjoyed spending time camping, traveling, taking trips together with his wife, and spending time with family at get-togethers. He was an outgoing person and was always there to give a helping hand. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fallstown Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Troutman officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
