Kelly Eugene “Bud” Carrigan, of Troutman, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, at his residence.
Bud was born in Alexander County on December 21, 1930, to the late Garland Odell Carrigan and Maggie Bell Grant Carrigan. He attended Troutman School and worked as a lineman for Southern Railway until retirement.
Bud was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. A family tradition was established of having lunch on Sundays at “Maw & Paw’s” and has continued to date.
He was an active member of Ostwalt Baptist Church until his health declined. He and his wife worked with the NC Baptist Men on missions to the Philippines, Peru, Venezuela, and other areas. They also helped with Disaster Relief with great satisfaction of helping others.
Bud was a source of love and friendship to many. While he will be greatly missed, fond memories will sustain us. He leaves his family a legacy of love and strength that will endure for generations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juell Bass Carrigan; son, Donnie Eugene Carrigan; sister, Margaret C. Moore; brother, Veldon Grant Carrigan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Judy Carrigan Douglas (Reg Brown), and Penny Carrigan McCullen (Tommy); sister, Mary C. Miller of Advance; four grandchildren, Joel Douglas (Sheree), Ryan Douglas (Crystal), Kelli Douglas, Steve Carrigan; eight great grandchildren, Brittany (Tim) Hattier of Louisiana, Chandler Douglas, Maddie Douglas, Mary Ryan Douglas, David Douglas, Lauren Rhyne, Ashley Murphy, and Kristen Campbell; eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 am at Ostwalt Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Wesley Morris. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ostwalt Baptist Church, 198 Ostwalt Amity Road, Troutman, NC 28166, or Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
