Brenda Lee Haggerty

Brenda Lee Waddell Haggerty, 69, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home. Born in Iredell County, on May 27, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Garnis Waddell and Leona May Handy, who survives. She was a graduate of South Iredell High School and was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. She worked taking care of others in the healthcare field. Brenda loved gardening and was known to have a green thumb as she raised her vegetables and her blueberries. A wonderful cook, she was especially known for her deviled eggs, banana pudding, and her sweet potato casserole.

In addition to her mother, Brenda is survived by her two sons, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Waddell and Michael (Hannah) Haggerty; grandson, Jonas Waddell; granddaughter, Josiane Waddell; and grandson, Nevin Haggerty. She is also survived by one brother, David (Debra) Waddell; four sisters, Wanda Burns, Kathy Mock, Donna (Scott) Setzer, and Patsy Hamilton; along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Diamond Hill Baptist Church on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 6:00 pm. Pastor Larry Holleman will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Brenda’s memory to Diamond Hill Baptist Church 2320 East Broad St Statesville, NC 28625.
