Brenda Lee (Holleman) Clark; born on March 10, 1960 passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday July 19, 2025 at the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, NC.
Brenda was born in Iredell County to the late James Lester Holleman and Emma Lee (Moore) Cox (Surviving). She was a 1978 graduate of North Iredell High School where she excelled in the Music and Drama Programs. Brenda participated as a soprano in the All County and All State Chorus, and sang with the Northside Singers. She flourished in one of the lead roles as “Mammy Yokum” in the Drama Club’s presentation of the play “Li’l Abner.” A role which she was “born to play” as her family said so lovingly for many years afterwards. Brenda continued her love for music as she pursued and graduated with her BA in Music on a Scholarship to Mars Hill College. After College and throughout her life, Brenda worked in various occupations which most often involved teaching. From Introductory Computer courses in Raleigh, to Substitute Teaching in the Iredell / Statesville Schools System, to her most recent love, teaching in a Christian preschool program. As the eldest among her siblings, she was a “natural born Teacher.” Of course, singing was as natural to Brenda as breathing, so in whatever activity she was involved with, it was usually accompanied by Song. Even in her final days with her family, she was joyfully “directing” and singing along with the “Family Choir” gathered at her bedside. Brenda will also be remembered fondly by all who knew her for her great sense of humor and especially her infectious laughter. With that strong, trained soprano voice, she could “raise the roof” with thunderous laughter which she often did throughout the years. Brenda was also devoted to her family, often “filling in for Mom” in the Summers looking after her siblings in their younger years, called by her brother “the Ram Rod of the outfit.” She learned about Motherhood early on and fulfilled the role well with her own children (Josh & Emily) whom she loved dearly! Lastly, and most importantly, Brenda loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved His Word, and she loved to worship Him with songs of praise as a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. These things she held fast up until her last moments with us, and we are a grateful family to have been at her side as she said goodbye to us and as she was welcomed finally into the Lord’s presence.
Brenda is survived by her Son Joshua Taylor, and Daughter, Emily Taylor. Her Mother Emma Cox (Jim). A Sister, Johannah Robinette (Larry), and brothers Larry Holleman (Hope) and Jack (JB) Clements (Tammy). Also surviving are Uncles Douglas Moore and Ronnie Moore (Sue) and an aunt, Marie Austin. Surviving also are Nephews, Nieces and Cousins, and a very dear and life-long friend, Mary McHarge.
A Memorial Service celebrating Brenda’s life and homegoing will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Holleman and Travis Clines officiating.
