Boyd Garfield Campbell Jr., 73, of Blackwelder Rd, Statesville departed this earth to join his heavenly father on March 26, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1952, in Iredell County and was the son of late Nellie Moose Campbell and Boyd Garfield Campbell. Boyd is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of fifty-five years, Becky Knox Campbell. Boyd and Becky symbolized what a family should be through their illustration of love for one another, children and grandchildren.
Boyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His passion and integrity to those he loved was unwavering. He is survived by his son, Matthew Boyd Campbell (Danielle), two daughters, Cindy Marie Campbell, and Rebecca Elaine Campbell, grandsons, Jaylyn Campbell and Brayden Barber; granddaughters, Jaedann Allison, “little bit”, and Maizie Campbell, “June Bug”; and late brother Jerry Campbell (Phyllis). There are many surviving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who he treasured close to his heart.
Boyd graduated from North Iredell High School in 1971. In 1972 he was drafted into the US Army and served at Fort Myer as a Military Police. He was employed for 45 years as a diesel mechanic at Tyson Foods in Harmony, NC.
As a lifelong farmer, he devoted himself to working the land passed down through a generation. Boyd bared resemblance to the Bible verse 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” He was not only an honorable man, but a humble man who found satisfaction in doing good deeds for others. Boyd was a loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, selling tires, and most of all telling jokes and playing pranks. He found his greatest joy in the moments shared with his grandchildren, who brightened his life in every way. He leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, who were often entertained by his stories and his remarkable sense of humor. His warm smile and infectious laugh will be remembered always. He also cherished his special dog, Josey, who was a beloved companion.
