Mr. Boyce Cecil Tucker, Sr., 81, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
He was born July 21, 1934, in Iredell County to the late Ralph Fletcher and Janie Kathleen Moore Tucker.
He was a graduate of Troutman High School and Appalachian Training School for Teachers, currently known as Appalachian State University, with a degree in Teaching. He was married to the former Frances Walker and worked as a representative for the Employment Security Commission before his retirement.
Mr. Tucker was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He collected old tractors and guns and enjoyed fishing. He loved animals especially his dog, Max, and his adopted cat.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean T. Morton and Cathy T. (John) Murphy; son, Boyce Tucker, Jr.; sisters, Elaine T. (Garry) Austin and Faye T. Perry; brothers, Melvin Tucker and Donnie (Judy) Tucker, all of Statesville; and grandchildren, Kathalene and Madison Murphy, Adam and Tyler Morton, and Joseph Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; infant daughters, Cecilia Ann and Cheryl Lynn Tucker; sister, Martha T. Church; and his beloved dog, Max.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Emory officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
