Bonita "Bonnie" Louise (Hiemenz) Grant

Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Hiemenz Grant, 71, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Bonnie was born on January 9, 1950 in Onslow County and was the daughter of the late Richard William Hiemenz and Charity Athalia Sanders Hiemenz. She attended Mitchelle College and on October 25, 1966 was married to David Avon Grant of Statesville, who survives. She worked for Dr. Fred Marks as a medical assistant. Bonnie was an avid reader, loved fishing, Tar Heel basketball and most of all, her grandbabies. She loved Jesus and was secure in her faith.

In addition to her husband, Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Catherine G. Peoples (David) of Wake Forest, Rebecca G. Cleaves (Michael) of Statesville, seven grandchildren, Patrick David Peoples (Jasmine), Benjamin Peoples, Madeleine P. Tatarko (Nick), Victoria Grace Peoples, Case Cleaves, Caroline Cleaves, Camille Cleaves, one great grandchild, Elsie Wren Tatarko. Further survived by three sisters, Sharon H. Hodges (Ronnie) of Statesville, Francis “Fran” H. Pierce (Danny) of Richlands, Theresa “Terri” Price (Ronny) of Connelly Springs and one brother, Richard Hiemenz (Laurie) of Orlando, FL.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Lynnette Grant and son, William Matthew Grant.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
