Bobby Lee Gilleland, age 71, of Troutman, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. He was born in Catawba County on May 15, 1939 to the late Monroe and Rena Sigmon Gilleland. Bobby attended Bandys High School and, following graduation, served our country in the United States Army National Guard. On February 16, 1962, Bobby married Ann Byers. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Paula Marlowe (Barry); and his two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Marlowe and Ethan Clark Marlowe. He is also survived by two brothers, Hubert Gilleland and Carroll Gilleland (Lorene). Bobby retired from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier at the Statesville Post Office. Bobby was an Ancient, Free, and Accepted Mason of North Carolina and was a member of the Campbell Masonic Lodge #374 in Troutman for 43 years. He served as Past Master and was the current Treasurer of the lodge. He also enjoyed auto racing, hunting, and traveling, especially to Alaska and the western states. The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. At other times, the family will assemble at the home. The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Fox and Philip Brown officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The active pallbearers will be Gary Gilleland, Michael Gilleland, Scott Byers, Keith Troutman, Chris Brown, and Philip Brown. Members of the Campbell Masonic Lodge #374 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Masonic rites will be observed at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lynn Hostettler Scholarship Fund, c/o Campbell Masonic Lodge, P. O. Box 181, Troutman, NC 28166.
