Bobbie Ruth McLain

Ruth “Bobbie Ruth” Reid McLain, 88, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born June 13, 1938, in Carteret County, NC, she was the wife of the late Bobby Lee McLain and the daughter of the late Raymond Eugene and Edna Louise Coley Reid. Bobbie Ruth owned and operated Bobbie Ruth’s Bridal Shop in Statesville for many years and was a graduate of Scotts High School. She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Bobbie Ruth was formerly a member of Sisters in Stitches at Rocky Hill. She enjoyed cooking and making toboggans which were distributed to the victims of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

Bobbie Ruth is survived by her two sons, Harry (Teresa) McLain and Terry McLain; her sidekick, Tucker; her granddaughter, Selina (Doug) Polson; and her grandson, Brandon McLain. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Tyler, Kaleb, Jaxon, and Alexis; one brother, Earl Reid; one sister, Peggy Styers; and her special friends, Elaine McLelland, Shirley Millsaps, and Gayle Bryson. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband of 44 years and her parents, Bobbie Ruth was also preceded in death by two sisters, Julia “Judy” Peacock and Kay Ramsey.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Harry McLain and Gary Millsap officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church one hour before the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Serving as pallbearers for Bobbie Ruth will be Brandon McLain, Doug Polson, Tyler Gannon, Wes Peacock, Kaleb McLain, and Curtis Haney.
