Blair Galt Baldwin, 88, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Blair was born on January 9, 1938, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Carrington Grigsby Galt and Martha Roberts Galt. She received a bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin University and worked in sales and design for Willis Wayside Furniture in Virginia Beach, Virginia; where she resided for many years. After retiring and moving to Vero Beach, Florida, Blair enjoyed spending her time on the golf course, at the bridge table and in the company of her many good friends. Blair lived an interesting and full life, to say she was full of personality would be an understatement. Also known as “B” to her loved ones she created memories that will be tough to fade away.
Blair was proud of her heritage and extensive Virginian lineage. She often shared stories from her youth and the adventures of her relatives. B had a quick wit and a clever sense of humor never failing to make you laugh in her presence. She had a classic and timeless style both in the home and in the way she dressed. She was always offering sage fashion advice, entertaining tips along with sharing her recipes with the girls. There was not a day that went by that she didn’t take the time to work her New York Times crossword puzzle with her coffee in hand and then dive into a good book or the latest Netflix Series. She loved her family dearly and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grand-children was her favorite place to be.
Left to cherish Blair’s memory are her daughter, Mary Johnston Dulin (Phil) of Statesville; son Walter Lafayette Johnston III of Largo, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer Crouch Elliott (Nash) of Estill, South Carolina and John Philip Dulin of Statesville; great-grandchildren, Richard Hepburn Elliott, III and Carrington Blair Elliott of Estill.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 13 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville, NC with Rev. Brad Mullis officiating. A celebration of her life will be held in the Parrish Hall following the service.
Blair’s cremains will privately be laid to rest at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia beside her parents and beloved aunts Mamie and Susie.
