Billy Ray Rowe, 80, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Gordon Hospice House.
He was born on December 20, 1929 to the late Lester Rowe and Ethel Davis. He was also predeceased by his wife, Bobbie Kidd Rowe; a brother, Gerald Rowe; stepfather, Ashley Davis; and stepsister, Louise Poole.
Mr. Rowe was a loving husband and father who adored his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and loved woodworking. He served his country honorably in the US Army and was a retired estimator for Superior Paving Company, where he faithfully served for 28 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Tommy L. Rowe and wife, Pam; three daughters, Patricia A. Rowe, Sherrie R. Morton, and Joyce R. Rumple and husband, Jimmy; five grandchildren, Leslie R. Stauffer and husband Robby, John and Stephen Morton, and Ethan and Kate Rumple; two great-grandchildren, Dayne Stauffer and Kingston Morton; one sister, Nancy Strickland; one stepsister, Betty Smith; and Sam, his faithful and loving dog.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Billy Ray Rowe will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27th at the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas W. Corbell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
