Betty Jean Thomas, 79, of Statesville, entered eternal rest November 1, 2025, after an extended illness.
Born and raised in Statesville to the late Henry and Elizabeth Myers, Betty Jean graduated from Cool Springs High School, where she received the senior superlative for “Most Beautiful Girl” in her class. She later continued her education at Mitchell Community College.
Growing up, Betty Jean attended Cochran Street Baptist Church in Statesville and continued in her Baptist faith throughout her life, often reading her Bible daily.
Betty Jean devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, giving everything she had to raise her children. Her love for them was evident in countless ways through her steady support, her daily care, and the traditions she built around their lives. Among her many gifts, she was especially known for making the most beautiful cakes crafted with love for birthdays, holidays, and even for her children’s teachers.
For Betty Jean, her pets were family, and she loved each one dearly. She held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog Kelsey, who was her faithful companion for many years.
Left to survive her memory are her three children, sons Brian Thomas (Mary), Bradley Thomas (Elizabeth) and beloved daughter Barbara Thomas; grandchildren Badin Thomas (Elizabeth), Macy Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Nicholas Thomas and Daniel Thomas; Great grandchild Carson Thomas. Her sister, Rena Plyler (Wayne) also survives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorials be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
