Betty Jo Campbell Drye

Betty Jo Campbell Drye, 94, of Statesville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Betty was born on January 16, 1932, in Iredell County, the daughter of John Lee Campbell and Jettie Reid Campbell. She graduated from Cool Spring High School, where she was an active member of the girls' basketball team.

A lifelong woman of faith, Betty was a devoted member of Cool Spring United Methodist Church. She dedicated much of her working life to the healthcare industry, serving as a patient attendant and caring for others with compassion and kindness.

Betty found joy in gardening, sewing, and caring for her family. She especially treasured the time she spent with her loved ones and was known for her generous spirit and devotion to those she loved. Her life was marked by hard work, faith, and a deep commitment to family, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carroll Franklin Drye; brothers, Roy Campbell, Wade Campbell and Billy Campbell; sisters, Virginia Drye, Martha Feimster and Brenda Orren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Drye (Tammy); daughter, Sharon Mitchem (Billy); grandchildren, Bradley Messick (Anna), Chad Messick (Morgan) and Travis Drye (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Campbell, Rowe, Lily Reid, Paisley Jo and Kane Messick, and Zachary, Kohen and Elizabella Drye.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 14 at Cool Spring UMC with Rev. Darren Custer and grandson, Minister Bradley Messick officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cool Spring UMC, 1902 Mocksville Hwy, Statesville NC 28625.
