Jan. 3, 1922 - June 27, 2016 Ora Elizabeth "Beth" Cloaninger, 94, of Troutman, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016. She was born January 3, 1922 in Richland County, SC to the late Edward Oscar and Annie L. McLean Cloaninger. Beth graduated from Troutman High School and Geyer Business College in Charlotte. She also completed three National exams given by the Insurance Institute of America (IIA) and received their certifications. She worked for Mooresville Mills for two years in their sales office located in the Empire State Building in New York City. She also worked for Ralph Mullis Insurance that later merged with C.C. Fox Agency, becoming Fox Mullis Insurance Agency, where she remained for 32 years. After her retirement, she worked many years as the church secretary for St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville. Beth was a member of the Statesville Business and Professional Women’s Club ("BPW") where she served as past President and Treasurer. She received the BPW "Woman of the Year" award in 1982 and the yearbook dedication in 1987. She was also a member of the Statesville Association of Insurance Women serving as a past President and actively attending many of their educational seminars. Beth was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman where she actively participated in numerous positions. She served on the Church Council three different times, was past President of the Women of the Church group and particularly enjoyed Sunday School classes. She loved her church and its members dearly and faithfully attended whenever she could. Beth was a very kind person who had a lovely sense of humor. She enjoyed being with people, often entertaining at her home in Troutman. She had many good friends and acquaintances in the Troutman, Mooresville and Statesville area who will truly miss her. She is survived by her loving and caring sister-in-law, Doris Pardue C. Overcash of Stony Point; special nieces, Jean P. Deal (Jack) of Statesville and Kay P. Mills of Stony Point; one special nephew, Gray Pardue (Cathy) of Statesville; numerous cousins; and a number of great nieces and nephews. Interment will be Wednesday, June 29th at 1:30 p.m. in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Troutman. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. A reception and visitation will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Cloaninger in 1916, and brother, Edward McLean Cloaninger in 1968.
