September 20, 1924 - January 10, 2017 Beryl Pittman Banner, 92, of Troutman, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Frank, N.C. to the late Raymond Stokes Pittman and Winnie Phillips Pittman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Lowe Banner; brother, Jack Richard Pittman and sisters, Ruth P. Braswell and Helen Pittman. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Brent) Banner Warren and Sherry (John) Banner Bishop; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Hager and Richard Bishop, great grand-children, Nathan Kirkland, Anna Kirkland, and Christian Hager, sister-in-laws , Carlyne Lylerly, Thelma Tilley, and Martha Pittman, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Beryl was a homemaker for much of her life and loved her family. She was always smiling and could be recognized by her sparkling eyes. She was affectionately known as "Hollywood" by many of her nurses and caregivers. The family would like to express a special thanks and appreciation to Lindsay Smith, the nurses, CNAs, cafeteria workers, volunteers, and housekeepers of Iredell Memorial Hospital for their care and friendship, as well as home caregivers, Beverly Boddie, Donna Ostwalt, Gloria Stevenson, Tammy Glenn, and Shanti Jones for their loving care. The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Troutman Historical School House on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Sherrod officiating and Curtis Fortner delivering the eulogy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Banner’s memory may be made to Help Ministries Lunchbox Program, PO Box 151, Troutman, NC and/or to Troutman Family Historical Association, 490 Troutman Farm Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
