Ben Gray Deal

Mr. Ben Gray Deal, 80, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his residence.

Ben was born August 27, 1939 in Alexander County and was the son of the late Henry Thomas Deal and Eula Beam Deal. He was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School, a member of Front Street Baptist Church and on June 6, 1959, he married Mary Oliver Deal. He was retired from Jackson Lea Metal Finishing and was currently working for Matchless Metal Polish. He was a life long member and past president of American Electroplaters Society. He was set to receive an award for his 60 years of service in the industry next week.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by two sons, Todd Oliver Deal (Lisa) of Troutman, Jody Gray Deal (Bobbie Jo) of Statesville, five grandchildren, Dylan Deal of Stony Point, Morgan Deal of Statesville, Garrett Deal of Troutman, Madison “Madi Gray” Deal of Statesville, Rylee Rankin of Asheville; two great grandchildren, Lily and Lathan McElfresh; one sister, Joyce Clodfelter (RC) of Statesville; two sisters-in-law, Etta Inman, Gwen Oliver and one brother-in-law, Gerald Oliver (Wanda). He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Sidney Oliver and Emery Inman.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Western Avenue Baptist Church. The family will speak with friends following the service.
