Barry E. Shinn of Troutman died June 4, 2014 at the age of 61.
He was born in Iredell County, October 12, 1952. Preceding him in death was his father, Brice Calvin Shinn.
His surviving parents are his mother, Betty Shinn-Herman and step-father, Harold Herman, both of Troutman.
His memory lives on in the hearts of Judith Weaver, his very dear and special friend; two brothers, John Shinn (Gail) of Kannapolis and Robert Shinn of Troutman; his nephew, Tracy Shinn (Aleshia) and a great niece, Mattie Shinn and nephew, Eli Shinn, both of Asheville. Also surviving are his cousins, Laura Ann Hite (Land) and Allen White (Joyce) of Charlotte.
Barry was very passionate about farming and one of his greatest joys was taking care of his cows. He appreciated all the facets of farming life. He loved to read, especially business news and reports. He was a graduate of South Iredell High School and furthered his education by earning a B.S. Degree from NC State.
A graveside gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, June 7 at 1:15 pm at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held following the graveside gathering at Bethesda Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be held after the memorial service at the church.
Memorials may be sent to Gordon’s Hospice House or the National Lung Cancer Society.
