Barry Scott Gibbs

July 22, 1968 - December 17, 2016 Barry Scott Gibbs, 48, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 17, 2016. He was born on July 22, 1968 in Mooresville, NC to Peggy Karriker Gibbs and the late William Richard Gibbs. Barry was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Houston and Olive Thompson Gibbs and maternal grandparents, Leonard McHue and Julia Winecoff Karriker. Along with his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Herman Huffman; daughter, Katelyn Gibbs of West Virginia; brother, Richard Alan Gibbs (Lynn) of Mt. Mourne; sister, Kristi Gibbs Eury (Kelly) of Mt. Mourne; nephews, Adam Gibbs, Ethan Eury (Morgan), Seth Eury and Aaron Eury; niece, Brandy Crisco, and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Barry devoted much of his life to service. He was a past member of Mt. Mourne Volunteer Fire Department, a past employee of Iredell County Emergency Communications, and was once a security officer. He also held a white belt in Krav-Maga. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel. The Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Fox officiating.
