Barry Steele Adkins

Mr. Barry Steele Adkins, 64, of Oak Island passed away at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Barry was born in Iredell County on March 23, 1947 to Kenneth Steele and Dorothy Cline Adkins of Statesville. He was owner and operator of Blackbarry Marine in Oak Island. He was associated with Auto Equipment, Inc. in Statesville for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Klinck Adkins, of the home; a son, Rich Adkins and his wife, Leann, of Troutman; a daughter, Amy Lynn Warren and her husband, Rodger, of Mooresville; a brother, Brent Adkins and his wife, Cindy, of Statesville; and six grandchildren, Ashley Mills, Hannah and Matt Warren and Rachel, Andrew and Aidan Adkins. A memorial service for Barry will be held Saturday, June 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Troutman Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Ingles and the Rev. Dr. Paul Childers officiating. A visitation for family and friends will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.
