Barbara Roten

Barbara Ann Cook Roten, 82, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her home.

Barbara was born on February 16, 1944, to the late Spencer Greene Cook and Mary Elizabeth Curley Cook. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Barbara enjoyed working in her flowers, spending time in her garden, cooking meals for those she loved, and baking treats that brought joy to family and friends. She also enjoyed relaxing at home watching wrestling and football on television, something she always looked forward to. She loved family get-togethers and her family was her greatest joy.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Odell Roten; son, Junior Roten; daughter, Connie Mayhew (Scott); son, Bobby Roten; daughter, Donna Roten; son, Ray Roten; daughter, Becky Carson (Shawn); daughter, Beth Miller; along with 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by both of her brothers, Donald Cook and Jimmy Cook, as well as her only sister, Hazel Beckham.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
