Barbara “Bobby” Lentz, 82, of Statesville, passed away Saturday. November 22, 2025, at her residence.

Bobby was born April 6, 1943, in Iredell County, to the late Ted Ray Nichols and Ruth Hoover Warner Nichols. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Statesville Chapter of the Business Women of America, where she also served as an officer.

She was a bookkeeper by profession, and an avid deer hunter for recreation. Her last employment was at Henderson’s Furniture store. She sold Avon for 25 years and was in the President’s Club most of those years. She was President of the Lentz Reunion for many years. She took care of her grandmother, Nola Lentz Hoover and her mother, Ruth Warner during their declining years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roy F. Lentz, Jr; an infant son, Michael Todd Lentz; sisters, Cecelia J. Nichols-Pearce, Avis Nichols Walsh and Inez Nichols Briggs.

Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Cynthia Walsh Robinson, David Walsh, Betty Berrier Hollifield, Rick Berrier, Dee Faulkner Epperson and Trent Faulkner. She also leaves behind many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. John Parks officiating.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the following caregivers from Home Instead: Sissy, Michelle, Christy, Dawson, Deb, Emily and Linda. We thank them for the love and excellent care of Roy and Barbara over the past 2 years.

Arrangements for Mrs. Lentz are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
