Barbara Gilbert

Barbara Moore Gilbert, 75, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Barbara was born on November 30, 1949, in Iredell County, to the late James Flake Moore and Hazel Leona Cline Moore.  She attended Statesville Senior High School and Mitchell Community College where she earned her nursing degree. She retired from Davis Regional Medical Center after a 30-year nursing career, where she met co-workers who became lifelong friends. After her retirement in 2012, she volunteered at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy M. Hill.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her husband of 28 years, Jimmy Gilbert; daughters, Tracy Estes (Jeff) of Greer, SC, Leslie Lambert (Jeff) of Statesville, and Cheryl Potter (Mark) of Statesville; stepdaughter, Chrissy Wolfe (Ricky) of Asheville; stepson, Bryan Gilbert (Susan) of Statesville; sister, Wanda Oliver (Gerald) of Statesville; eleven grandchildren, Bailey, Jay, Jessica, Logan, Nick (Mary), Anna (Lance), Matthew, Madison (Seth), Ashlyn (Nathan), Brayden and Grace; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
