Avery William Harwell

Avery William Harwell, 91, of Statesville, passed away, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Autumn Care of Statesville.

Mr. Harwell was born May 18, 1930 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Avery Buford Harwell and Lois Lippard Harwell. He was a graduate of Statesville High School and served in the US Navy. On May 20, 1951, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Sipes Harwell, who survives. He worked for Southern Screw Co. for 40 years and loved his garden, messing around outdoors and fixing things. He was preceded in death by one son, Ernest William Harwell, who passed away, June 3, 2008 and eight siblings.

In addition to his wife, Avery is survived by one sister, Ann Mayberry and two grandsons, Grant William Harwell and Blake William Harwell.

A private family graveside service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Glenwood Cemetery.
