Audrey Ruth (Miller) Shoemaker

Mrs. Audrey Ruth Miller Shoemaker, 89, of Statesville, passed away, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Autumn Care of Statesville.

Mrs. Shoemaker was born July 28, 1929 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Henry Wilburn Miller and Bessie Cartner Miller. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and was married to the late William “Bill” Albert Shoemaker, who passed away February 6, 2016. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where in her earlier years she taught Sunday School. She was a kindergarten teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church and later retired from Davis Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn S. Lamb of Statesville, Dianne S. Wilson (Harold) of Statesville; two granddaughters, Angela Thomas (Brett) of Roanoke, VA, Elizabeth Greenhalgh (Mark) of Huntersville; three great grandchildren, Ryan Thomas, Reid Thomas, Lucas Greenhalgh and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Miller of Statesville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Charlie Miller, Byron “Bob” Miller, Kathleen Moore, Edith Gregory and four half brothers and sisters, Mary Beam, Fred Miller, Darr Miller and Mamie Setzer.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Ernie Sheldon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm at the church.
