Audrey Theresa Goodman

Audrey Theresa Goodman, 93, of Troutman and The Gardens of Statesville, NC, passed away ever so peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and beloved caregivers.

Audrey was born on September 17, 1932, in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late James M. Craig and Iva Mae Dupuis.

She was a graduate of Bladensburg High School in Maryland. It was in Washington, DC where she met and married her husband, the late Ray Lynn Goodman of Iredell County on January 6, 1951.

They remained in D.C. to raise their two sons, Mitchell Lynn and Curtis Ray and returned to the family farm in Troutman, NC in 1975. There they built a home, were members of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and tended the land until the passing of Ray Lynn in 1998, where after Audrey moved to the town of Troutman and enjoyed many years amongst her kind neighbors who loved her so.

Audrey was an exceptional secretary who gave of herself to two family businesses, helping her loved ones navigate the ups and downs of self-employment. She had a deep love and fascination with genealogy and spent countless hours tracing the roots of the Goodman family tree as well as her own personal history. It was through this interest she discovered her half-brother, Jak Brewer of Boone, NC. They fostered a warm relationship until his passing.

Audrey will be most remembered for her love of family, her devotion to her sons and grandsons, generosity to her neighbors and her deep and abiding faith that guided her throughout her life. She exemplified her faith in her unwavering kindness and gratitude towards everyone in her life and to strangers she met along the way.

She will be missed beyond words but will live on in the hearts of those fortunate to have been a part of her life.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lynn Goodman; son, Mitchell Lynn Goodman; her half-brother, Jak Brewer; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Cooke, and Dean Westmoreland; and her brothers-in-law, James G. Cooke and Grover Westmoreland.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Curtis Ray Goodman, and wife Alicia; grandson, Nicholas A. Goodman, and wife Sonya; grandson, Tyler G. Goodman and wife Kate, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
