Archie Lea (Holbrook) Lundy

Mrs. Archie Lea Holbrook Lundy, 77, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Mrs. Lundy was born September 17, 1942 in Iredell County to the late Archie Lewis and Connie Hepler Holbrook. She was a graduate and Salutatorian of Statesville Senior High School, class of 1960 and on June 25, 1961, she married Jerry Tobe Lundy, who survives. She began her career at Merchant’s & Farmer’s Bank in 1960 and retired from Bank of America as an Assistant VP and Branch Manager at the Harmony location on December 1, 1997.  She was a longtime member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, where she served as Treasurer and was on the Board of Trustees. She was a member of Christian Women, ABWA, Iredell County ECA and volunteered at Jurney’s of Statesville. She enjoyed going to Auction Sales, was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her granddaughters, who affectionately called her “Mimi”. She also enjoyed gardening and helping canning vegetables with her husband, Jerry.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Archie is survived by two daughters, Beth Lundy of Statesville, Susan Lundy McBride (Jamie) of Wilkesboro; two granddaughters, Lucy and Sophia McBride; two brothers, Ralph Holbrook of Statesville, Edward Holbrook of Statesville, one sister, Marie Holbrook of Troutman and several nieces and nephews.

Archie never met a stranger and was kind to all those that she came in contact with. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Fairmount UMC with Rev. Lynn Lepley and Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00pm at Troutman Funeral Home.
