Mrs. Annie "Marie" Moose, 87, of Statesville, passed away surrounded by her children on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
Born on October 12, 1938, in Iredell County, Marie was the daughter of the late Lester Lee Campbell and Mae Mayberry Campbell. On Valentine’s Day in 1954, she married the love of her life, the late V.C. Moose. They shared 59 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in September 2013.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Campbell Benge and Naomi Campbell Myers, and a brother, Donald Campbell.
Marie dedicated much of her early life to her family as a devoted homemaker. She was a talented seamstress who lovingly made clothing for her children as they grew. Her skills in the kitchen were unmatched — her potato salad, BBQ chicken, and famous pecan pies were family favorites. A passionate gardener, Marie had stunning flower beds and a bountiful vegetable garden, always eager to share her harvest with family and friends. She was well known for her canning, and her dill pickles were the absolute best!
After raising her children, Marie entered the workforce and eventually retired from Rental Uniform Service. She also worked for a time at Troutman Industries.
Marie is survived by her children: daughters Sylvia Moose and Cynthia Dyson (Bob) and son Randy E. Moose (Vickie). She was a proud grandmother to Carol Thompson (Ramon), Brandon Moose (Alex), Bradley Dyson, Chelsea Hancock, Stacey McHargue (Danny), and Kelli Plemmons (Shane). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Rohann, McKinna, Audrey, Sawyer, Jace, Adeline, Gabriel, and Allie.
Marie will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her deep love for her family, and the many ways she made the world a more beautiful and delicious place.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will speak with friends immediately following the service.
