Anne Mackie, formerly of Oakhurst Road in Statesville, departed this physical world on July 7th, 2024. She had been a resident at Friends Homes West in Greensboro for the past seven years and is now rejoicing in the presence of the friends and family who have transitioned and patiently awaited her arrival.
Anne was born in 1931 during the Great Depression and grew up on a small family farm in Harmony, NC. She was the middle child of three fine individuals born to Dorsey and Tossie Johnson. Her family all worked HARD to keep the farm self-sustaining, a place that they all could be proud to call home.
Driven by the work ethic learned first-hand, Anne secured employment while she was a young woman, culminating in a prolonged stint as a loan officer at the Statesville Branch of Bank of America (and its predecessors).
Anne's life was graced by her two daughters, Allison and Cynthia. Rest assured that she fine honed her mothering, loving, and kindness skills while enjoying the joy they both brought to the family.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Mackie, her sister Geneva Sharpe, and her brother Billy Lee Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Compton (David) of Charlotte and Allison Flaherty (Glenn) of Greensboro, along with grandchildren Elizabeth Cercone (Eric), Alan Compton (Lauren), Anne Compton-Brown (Stephen), Sarah Strickland, and Emily Strickland and great grandchildren Peyton, Luke, Jackson, and Savannah.
Visitation and Memorial services will take place at 1:00 and 2:00, respectively, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Broad Street Methodist Church in Statesville, NC. Her arrangements are in the competent care of Troutman Funeral Home, Troutman NC. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville NC.
I will always be grateful for her and will miss her. In fact, all who knew her will consider her passing and remember her kindness and accepting love. Thank you, Grandma Anne.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Music or General fund at Broad Street Methodist Church in Statesville NC.
