Ann Morrison Carson, 93, of Statesville, departed this world and entered her heavenly home, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. She was a member of the First A.R.P church and graduated from Statesville High School. Early in her career she worked for Dr. David L. Pressly and later she worked alongside her husband Gene in the business they owned, The City Newsstand. Ann had a passion for her family and was richly blessed to have three children, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven siblings and many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher and an excellent cook who enjoyed collecting recipe books.
Ann was born in Iredell County on October 4, 1931, to the late Francis Scar Morrison and Pauline Horne Morrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Eugene “Gene” Carson; brothers, William G. Morrison and Francis S. Morrison, Jr.; sisters, Elsie M. Cansler, Gloria A. Williams, Adelaide Shefte and Polly M. Jordan.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Carol Ann Carson of Rocky Mount, NC and Patricia Carson Lee (Jeff) of Belmont, NC; son, David Eugene Carson (Janet) of Winnabow, NC; grandchildren, Madeline Carol Lee of Gastonia, NC and Margaret “Margo” Ann Pitts (Luke) of Statesville, NC; great grandchildren, L. Pitts and E. Pitts; sister, Frances M. Ashe (Barry) of Newnan, Georgia, sister-in-law Pat Carson and brother in-law John Carson both of Spartanburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 pm in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Lynn Kunkle. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
