Albert Mathew Gilbert, Jr.

Albert Mathew Gilbert. Jr., 78, of Statesville, passed away, April 6, 2024 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Gilbert was born January 27, 1946 in Saltville, VA and was the son of the late Albert Mathew Gilbert, Sr. and Edith Williams Gilbert. He attended schools in Saltville, VA and in February of 1978 he married the late Phyllis Gorman Gilbert who passed away June 12, 2021. He loved his family, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by two children, “Bud” Albert Mathew Gilbert III (Tina) of Hamptonville, Brian Gilbert; two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Alston Gilbert; along with seven siblings, Harold Gilbert of VA, Jimmy Gilbert of VA, Donald Gilbert of FL, Mary Widener of VA, Jean Crouse of Glade Valley, NC, Loriene Alexander of Candler, NC and Patsy Bittinger of FL.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Brown and Judy Gilbert.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
