Addie Lee Sipes Brown, 91, died Dec. 7 at Iredell Memorial Hospital surrounded by family who loved her dearly.
She was a cancer survivor who continued her difficult journey with grace, dignity and amazing faith. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Addie Lee was born July 5, 1924 to John Lee Sipes, Sr. and Bertha Troutman Sipes. She and her 9 siblings moved often following her dad's shoe repair business, finally settling on Main Street in Troutman which was named after her mother's family. She graduated from Troutman High School. She was a secretary at Troutman Shirt Company, Warlick Paint Company, and Duke Power in Troutman where she retired in 1981.In 1947 she married the love of her life, Arthur Clyde "A.C." Brown, who preceded her in death in 2009.
She cherished her family and church, Bethel Baptist, where she served in many capacities as a lifelong member. Her Christian faith sustained her through many trials. She also enjoyed sewing in her early years and was proud of the lace wedding mantilla she made for her daughters. She had a green thumb and loved working in her flowers, tending to them like children.
