Patricia Marie Chenot Pekarek passed away peacefully at her home in Statesville on Friday, November 12, 2021.
Pat was born on May 10, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Albert Louis Chenot and Margaret Burke Chenot. She married Herman Loyd Pekarek on April 7, 1956, and made caring for her family her first priority. Her two daughters, whom she loved deeply, were the pride of her life.
A devoted Catholic, Pat was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as church secretary for many years. She had a sympathetic ear ready to listen and an outstretched hand ready to help others. Throughout her life, she volunteered her time for a wide variety of church, school, and civic-related activities, including the church Food Closet, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts and 4-H. She loved to dance and was a voracious reader; she was also an avid player of both Bridge and Solitaire, and a huge Notre Dame football fan.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Margaret C. Mlynczak, Francis Chenot, Albert Chenot and Delores Chenot. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Mary C. Koziboski, and her two daughters, Patricia “Patti” Marie Pekarek, of Charlotte and Nancy Jo Pekarek, of Raleigh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 17 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Statesville. The family will visit with friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
