Linda (Mizell) Lamb

Linda Mizell Lamb was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She left this world on December 29, 2022, at the age of 71, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Linda was born in Bertie County on September 5, 1951, to the late Luther “Sam” and Violet Rae Mizell, and was predeceased by her brother, Luther Sam Mizell, Jr. and sisters, Ludy Strother and Sandy Wilson.  She graduated from Bertie High School and served as Benefits Coordinator for Beaufort County Schools for many years until her retirement in 2011.  Linda was an active member of Banks Presbyterian Church in Marvin, NC.

Linda loved traveling with her husband and dog, spending quiet time reading, and was a fantastic cook.  Friends and family alike would often have a favorite dish or dessert that they’d request for celebrations and special occasions, and Linda always obliged.  She lived a life of service, welcoming any opportunity to help a neighbor or friend in need—she was truly one of a kind.

Surviving are her husband, Ernie Lamb of Catawba, NC; daughter, Carrie Lorraine Layton and husband Joey of Indian Trail, NC; granddaughter, Courtney Violet Layton of Greenville, NC; stepson, Jason and Dee of Denver, NC; step-grandchildren Andrew and CJ; sisters Nancy Kerns and Connie Hudson; brothers Tony Mizell and Marty Mizell.

A heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Iredell County for their expertise, kindness, and support that allowed the family to keep their last promise and honor Linda’s final wishes.

A service is scheduled for Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 12:30 PM at Banks Presbyterian Church—10012 New Town Road, Marvin, NC with Pastor Scott Hilborn officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
