Jean Mary “Jeannie” Lathrop Price, 69, of Catawba, NC, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Atrium Main in Charlotte, NC.
Jeannie was born March 9, 1953, in Virginia Beach, VA and was the daughter of the late James L. Lathrop and Nancy Strojny Lathrop. She was a graduate of Montgomery Community College and worked as a legal secretary for several companies in the Greensboro and Winston Salem area.
Jeannie’s adventurous spirit led her to Hawaii where she lived for five years and was an enthusiastic fan of skydiving with all her skydiving buddies there. Not long after, she met her soulmate, Chris James Price. The two married on February 4, 1984. Jeannie and Chris lavished love on their Labrador Retrievers, their “furry children”, who included: Zack, Kober, Baron and now Bo (Boeing). The couple made many great friends while attending fly-ins across the country and at cherished gatherings with their neighbors at Long Island Airpark. Chris and Jeannie flew several rescue missions for Pilots N Paws. The two enjoyed a rich and robust life together, sharing a love of flying, family, friends, and pups until Chris passed away on March 6, 2020.
Jeannie was known for her generosity expressed through her gift giving and cooking for her family and friends, especially her famous lasagna. She was cherished and loved by many. In her final act of generosity, Jeannie had wished to be an organ and tissue donor and was able to donate so that others may have life.
In addition to her husband, Chris, and her parents, Jeannie is also preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Lathrop and Robert E. Lathrop.
Jeannie is survived by one sister, Anne Liu, sister-in-law, Cheryl Lathrop, nieces, Kathryn Lathrop Gard (Matt), Sarah Dolan Lathrop, nephew, Geoffrey K.H. Liu and father-in-law, Wayne Keathley. Also surviving are two aunts, Kristi Morris, Sharon Printz, two uncles, John Daniel Link, Kent Link, two cousins, Patrick Morris, Daniel Morris and lifelong friend, Lynnie Tierney.
No formal service will be conducted at this time.
