Bonnie Johnson

Bonnie Lavon Stevenson Johnson, 86, of Statesville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Bonnie was born in Iredell County on March 9, 1938, to the late John Harvey Stevenson, Sr. and Sallie Martin Stevenson.

She retired from Piedmont Healthcare, where she worked in administration. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, going to the beach, shopping and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy R. Johnson; sister, Marie Stevenson (Charles), and Marjoylyne Stevenson Addington (Bob); brothers, Junius Thomas “Tom” Stevenson, John Harvey Stevenson, Jr., and Joe Rayle Stevenson; sister-in-law, Sue Stevenson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Gena Rae Johnson Bergner (John); son, Kevin Christopher Johnson (Lyn); sister-in-law, Carolyn Stevenson; friend and caregiver, Anna Porter; bonus grandchildren, John Bergner (Caitlyn), Bryan Bergner, Leah Bergner, and Zach Sulek; beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 29 at Concord Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Liz Troyer and Rev. John Stevenson. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
