Betty Jean (Ward) Queen

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, dear sister, passed away at the Gordon Hospice House Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Born January 18, 1932, to the late Willie Robert and Josie Bell Ward, she was a 1949 graduate of Harmony High School and a member of Harmony Baptist Church all her life. In September 1950, she married Ralph Queen, who preceded her in death in March 1986.

She is survived by “Her Boys”, Donald Queen of Harmony, Danny Queen of Texas, and James Queen of Union Grove; brother, Jim Ward (Phyllis) of Winston-Salem; Shirley Joyner (Tom) of Sanford, and Martha Barkley of Harmony.

She had great love for all her grandchildren; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She retired from Burlington Industries.

Special thank you from the family to the neighbors and all the wonderful caregivers from hospice.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 12, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Harmony Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, followed by a private family graveside service at Harmony Cemetery. Rev. Jacob Scott will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC or Harmony Baptist Church, 135 Little Wilkesboro Road, Harmony, NC 28634.
