Robert Nash Ivey, 93, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mr. Ivey was born in St. Pauls, NC on May 5, 1925 and was the son of the late Troy and Mary Ivey. In 1944 he was united in marriage to the late Bertha Lee Melton.
Most of his adult life, Robert worked in textiles representing several manufacturers out of state and abroad. He enjoyed his skills as a Loom Fixer with Beaunet Mills prior to his retirement. A true Patriot, his service in the US Army was a combat veteran during WWII was displayed on a cap he wore proudly in his later years.
Robert is survived by two children, Robert E. Ivey (Ruth) of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Ronald L. Ivey (Barbara, deceased) of Statesville; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. One living brother, Franklin D. Ivey (Nancy) assisted Robert for many years and the family extends to him their gratitude for his love and devotion.
Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 1:00-2:45pm at Troutman Funeral Home.
