Margaret Harrington Brown, 91, of Troutman, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Maple Leaf Health Care Center
in Statesville.

She was born in Anson County on Oct. 24, 1918, to the late Luther J. and Rosa Lee Cavin Harrington. She was married to the late Ben N. Brown Sr. and worked for many years at the U.S. Post Office in Barium Springs, N.C.

Her love for her family and friends was expressed through the years through an open heart and home. She loved flowers and gardening and the smells of a welcoming home-cooked meal often filled her home. During her last nine years at Maple Leaf, she was blessed with the courage to face each day in the promise of her heavenly home.

Mrs. Brown is survived by two sons, Ben Brown Jr. and wife Sandra, of Troutman and Jackson A. Brown and wife Kathey of Stanley; one daughter, Rose B. Henkel and husband Paul of Troutman; six grandchildren, Teresa Church (Terry), Carin Sink (Mike), Barron Brown (Allison), Augustus Brown (Heather), Olivia Price (James) and Ben Henkel; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Church, Hannah Church, Tyler Sink, Jordan Sink, Cayden Brown, Claire Brown, Morgan Brown and Lilly Price. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Hollifield Adams, and three brothers, L. J., Homer and Ronald Harrington.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew L. Miller officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Troutman.

Pallbearers will be Gus Brown, Barron Brown, Ben Henkel, Terry Church, Mike Sink, James Price, Tyler Sink and Mickey Harrington.

A special thank you to all at Maple Leaf for your kind care of our mother. Flowers always filled her room and grandchildren brought smiles and joy during their visits. We appreciate all you did.
