July 17, 1942 - December 23, 2018
Fern Johnsie Terry Gibson, born January 19, 1938 in Statesville, NC to the late Katie Lee Mills Terry and Ralph Crawford Terry. Mom, at 80 years of age, was called home to be with her Savior on December 25, 2018. She was the faithful spouse of Joe Ben Gibson of Mooresville, married for 61 years, who survives. This Holy union produced five children, Larry Ben Gibson, Sandra Gibson Cruse, Whit Fielding Gibson, Joyanna Gibson Melton, and Shana Gibson Varner. Grandchildren number 9 and great grandchildren number 4 at this time.
Johnsie has one surviving brother, Jay Coit Terry, residing in Apache Junction, AZ. Johnsie was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Larry Terry in 1958, who succumbed to polio.
Grandchildren are Beth Gibson Pressley, Brandi Gibson Ballard, Bethany Gibson, Katie Gibson, Ben Fielding Gibson, Isaac Melton, Colby Varner, Cade Varner and Calla Varner.
Mom’s profession was to give her children the best upbringing that she and Dad could provide. Together, they taught us a lifetime of Christian living and family values.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Meg Skidmore officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice (Catawba Regional Hospice), 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
