Gavin McLain Sharpe, 15, of Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, August 5, 2019 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
Gavin was born January 20, 2004 in Iredell County and was the son of Matthew Lee and Kimberly Love Sharpe. He was a rising sophomore at Mooresville High School. He had a contagious smile, loved everyone, and never met a stranger. He was an avid follower of Christ and wanted to become a minister someday. He lived his life with an unwavering faith; his involvement in his church and school FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) were a testament to that. He loved sports and was a member of his schools’ Football Team, Wrestling Team, and Track & Field Team. He was an encouragement to his teammates and friends both on and off the field. He was loved by so many and he will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to his parents, Gavin is survived by a sister, Ashlyn Sharpe of Mooresville; maternal grandparents, Dalton and Janice Love, Sr. of Statesville; paternal grandparents, Mickey and Peggy Sharpe of Statesville, two uncles, Dalton Love, Jr. (Angela) of Hamptonville, Brent Sharpe (Serena) of Clemmons; one aunt, Melissa Thomas (Robert) of Taylorsville; great grandmother, Lois Sharpe of Stony Point and six cousins, Morgann, Reagann, Madison, Logan, Josh and Austin.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 10, 2019 at The Cove Church – Mooresville Campus. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 am before the service. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville.
